A classic match-up to start off MNF this year. I have noticed that the forum is split about 50/50. That is probably a good thing.
A things I like about GB tonight... Favre is throwing against a secondary that returns only 2 starters from last season. He has a SOLID O line, a good group of wideouts, and perhaps one of the best RB's in the NFL (*see below).
Carolina, the defending NFC champs are playing at home on MNF. They have an excellent ground game (Davis) and good wideouts (Smith, Muhammed) and Delhomme is consistent if nothing else.
GB D is solid vs. the run, have their top CB back and ready to play and are solid vs. the number both on the road and as an underdog (at least in 2003).
Carolina has also shown to have a stingy D vs. the run, but I am concerned about the youth in the secondary against one of the great QB's of all time.
Clearly Favre is a big game QB. He loves the spotlight and usually flourishes in it. I like that this game is not in a dome (his jinx for some reason). The thumb on his throwing hand should be 100% and he will be more effective throwing the ball than he was last year.
***The BIG ? is Green. His sprained knee (I believe was the diagnosis
) could be the wild card here. You know he too is a gamer, so we don't have to worry about him giving 100% effort. I however, am no longer interested in the game (from a betting perspective) if he is unable to go.
Assuming that Green is confirmed as starting prior to kickoff, I like:
GB +3.5 (Caro)... @ WSEX
Under 43
Tease GB +9.5/ under 49.
G/L all. (GB 21 Caro 17) F
BTF!
